Paris Fashion Guide: What to Wear & How to Dress Right

what to wear in paris france

From my nights in Paris, I always determine plans around restaurant, eating, and the dress code by checking the restaurant website to be sure. Many restaurants welcome a café vibe with no dress code, where jeans are acceptable, but reservation, making the reservation, and what’s required still matter.

To look like a Parisian, follow Parisians: skip embellished or ripped denim and choose straight leg, flare, or wide leg cuts. I wouldn’t wear loud pieces; instead, wear dresses, skirts, or trousers to stay on the safe side with appropriate footwear like slingbacks, heels, ballet flats, or clean sneakers.

For day-to-night, I love a Denim Jacket with Black Trousers—a perfect nighttime look after a museum, followed by dinner on a terrace. As night turns into evenings, a Leather Jacket over Dark Denim feels right; in Paris, locals prefer a dark pair that looks elevated for a simple, chic look on an evening out.

When I want polish, a Tweed jacket with black denim creates a classic Parisian look. Add slingback pumps for a classic, timeless finish that works for any type of restaurant, even a Michelin Star restaurant or Michelin-star spot inside a luxury hotel.
